This little unit is quiet and holds the temp at 68°F and the humidity at 70%. I live in Florida where the humidity is 75%+ every day. To cool, the unit also removes some of the water in the air, so it just happens to hold the humidity at 70%, which is perfect. The unit does not have any humidity controls, it just happens to work out nicely. I had a desktop humidor but it couldn't get the humidity below 80%; not with glycol liquids or humidity packs, nothing.
I'm extremely happy with this Needone Humidor. I opened the shipping box, nothing was damaged and the humidor was nicely packaged. There was no plastic smell. And upon opening the glass door, I was met with a fragrant blast of cedar! I didn't read much of the instructions, as I was planning on seasoning this with two humidity control packages, and I'll leave them in, changing when needed. I've been seasoning for a week and oddly enough the analog humidity gauge/hydrometer is nearly accurate. I've been sitting at about 71 percent humidity for a few days on the digital hydrometer, and the analog reads 70% as I'm looking through the reflective glass with the lights on (haven't opened it since seasoning started).
We ordered and received this humidor in mid-January and wanted to give it a true "acid test" which is why this review seems to be very late in coming. The humidor is all we might ask for and more. It has been maintaining humidity and temperature through winter, spring, and now, what for us is blistering summer with the temps in the nineties. We do live in the northeast where winter storms are the norm, too. This company has been wonderful, as well, and my apologies to them for making them wait so long to see our reaction to their lovely product, which indeed it is in every way.
Had this humidor for a few weeks now. So far so good. Very easy to set up, it took several days to get the humidity to stabilize, but that could have been because I didn't have the humidity control packs in from the start. Temperature control is spot on, it is running dead quiet and has been from the start. Well packaged and arrived earlier than expected. This unit looks good and seems to work perfectly so far.
I concluded based on reviews and people I spoke with that the heating functions are not necessary except in the coldest of climates or if the unit is being located in a cold basement or unheated garage.
